29 Patients of COVID-19 in West Papua Province were declared Healed

Good news, as many as 29 positive COVID-19 patients in West Papua Province were declared cured and were returned to their families on Tuesday (7/28).

"For patients recovering today there are a significant addition of 27 people from Sorong City and Fakfak Regency two people. Praise God this is good news for all of us," said West Papua Provincial Government Spokesman Arnoldus Tiniap in Manokwari, Tuesday (28 / 7).

He said the addition of cured patients from these two regions increased the list of cured patients in the province to 263 people or 66.2 percent of the total cases of COVID-19.

"For positive confirmation today there is an additional one case from the City of Sorong. So the total positive cases in West Papua are currently recorded at 397 people," said Tiniap.

He appealed to the public to continue to be vigilant against COVID-19 transmission both in the red, yellow and green zones. Public discipline in implementing health protocols will help the government control the spread of COVID-19.

Of the 13 districts and cities in West Papua, currently there are still five regions located in the red zone, namely Sorong City, Manokwari and Sorong District, Wondama Bay, and Fakfak. Of the five regions, Sorong City, Manokwari and Sorong Regency have the highest rates of infection.

Regencies / cities that are located close to three regions are expected to continue to be vigilant by implementing COVID-19 prevention procedures strictly.

"Especially for travelers. Access to transportation between regions is very open, 'screening' and 'tracing' must be carried out," he said.

Whereas the regions that have successfully returned to the yellow zone are Raja Ampat and Kaimana Regencies. For the Districts of Bintuni Bay and South Manokwari, they have returned to the green zone. Nearly two months have not found new cases in these two regions.

"Four other regions, namely Maybrat, South Sorong, Arfak Mountains and Tambrauw since the beginning there have been no positive case reports. So these four regions are also still in the green zone," said Arnold.

He hopes the five red areas in West Papua will slowly change to the yellow to green zone. Community participation and hard work of the task force in each region were decisive.
