Maya Sheva Targets Gold Medal at the End of Her Retirement
After presenting a bronze medal for Indonesia at the 2019 SEA Games, karateka Putri Maya Sheva plans to retire in 2020.
The beautiful 25-year-old Karateka successfully presented a bronze medal for the Red and White Contingent at the 2019 SEA Games through the grade-50 kilogram kumite number.
"Next year it looks like I will retire. National Sports Week (PON) 2020 Papua may be the last event. Hopefully I can win a gold medal," Maya said, Saturday (12/14/2019).
After retiring later, Maya claimed to want to pursue a career outside the world of sports. He opened the opportunity to become a journalist, as his former college major.
As is known, in addition to a career as an athlete, karateka born in Jakarta was also concerned with formal education.
In 2016, Maya successfully completed her studies in Journalism majoring at the National University of Jakarta.
"For work after retirement] there is a square off. Previously I also had time to work. If you want to be a reporter, I will see later," explained the 2016 PON gold medalist.
Regarding the reason for retirement at a relatively ideal age for an athlete, Maya claimed to have considered it carefully. One of them is about the opportunity to increase achievement in the future.
"I am now 25 years old, maybe for the next few years I can still maintain my achievements. But to increase it is likely [it will be] difficult," Maya explained.
