Jayapura builds homestay to generate tourism enthusiasm

regency (Pemkab) Jayapura, Papua through the Culture and Tourism Office will build a number of homestays or accommodation places in tourism places that are starting to develop in this district in order to support the development of the tourism sector ahead of PON XX Papua.

"For this year's work program at the Tourism Office there are physical and non-physical. For the physical program we will build a homestay in Rabang Muaif and in Sawesuma," said the Head of the Jayapura Regency Culture and Tourism Office Joko Sunaryo via the regional website, Sunday (11/4/2021 ).

Joko said, homestay development is not only in two places but also in several other places that have active tourism and are supported by existing natural potentials.

According to Joko, the goal of building tourist infrastructure facilities is so that the Jayapura Regency Government can work together with the community to generate local revenue from the tourism sector.

He admitted that so far the tourism sector in Jayapura Regency has not made much contribution related to local revenue.

In fact, on the one hand, the tourism sector in Jayapura Regency, according to him, is quite potential and spreads in a number of areas of this regency.

This tourism potential in general, he continued, is still managed independently by the customary owners.

"On the one hand, actually the government has also presented a number of facilities, especially gazebos or homestays in tourist spots to provide comfort for tourists visiting various tourist objects," he said.
