Garuda Indonesia Becomes the Official Airline of PON XX

 Garuda Indonesia will be actively involved in supporting all activities of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), including the holding of the XXth National Sports Week (PON) in Papua.

This was done after the two parties signed the Corporate Privilege cooperation agreement. Garuda has officially become the Official Airline.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfaniaputra said that the scope of the cooperation, among others, provided benefits and added value to flight services for all administrators, athletes, contingents and officials at 34 Provincial KONIs and 71 main sports branches under the Central KONI.

In addition, offering special prices for international route flights and sporting events that are participated in by KONI as well as various other benefits of Corporate Privilege cooperation.

"We are committed to continuing to play an active role in supporting the improvement of Indonesia's competitiveness through collaborations with the Central KONI to support the achievement of national sports achievements, one of which is done through full support for the implementation of the XX PON in Papua in October 2021," said Irfan in a press release, Saturday (8/5/2021).

He added that this cooperation can strengthen a more competitive and competitive national sports ecosystem, by providing healthy, safe and comfortable flight accessibility. Moreover, through the implementation of optimal and consistent health protocols in all operational lines for national athletes who will fly to compete in the global and national arena.

Furthermore, in line with Garuda Indonesia's commitment to encouraging the improvement of national sports achievements, we will also give a special appreciation to national athletes who have won achievements in the global arena such as the gold medals at the Olympics. The appreciation is in the form of business class flight class upgrade facilities for those who will carry out together with Garuda Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the General Chairman of the Central KONI, Lt. Gen. TNI (ret.) Marciano Norman welcomed the collaboration with Garuda Indonesia as the proud airline of the Indonesian people.

"The high activity and mobility of athletes, contingents, and officials spread throughout Indonesia, of course, requires easy access to carry out our activities. Therefore, meeting the need for air flights is important for the community of sports achievements," he said.

Through this collaboration with the Central KONI, Garuda Indonesia also provides a special discount of up to 15 percent at the XX PON event for all athletes, contingents and officials who will fly to Papua. Furthermore, Garuda Indonesia will also provide a dedicated check-in counter to facilitate accessibility of the pre-flight process for all athletes, contingents and officials.
