SUPPORT OTSUS, TOMAS SORONG SELATAN: THANK YOU CENTRAL GOVERNMENT

It has been 20 years since Special Autonomy (Otsus) has been taking place in the Land of Papua. As a form of great attention from the central government, Otsus has had a major impact on Papua, both physical and non-physical development.

Community leaders in West Papua give appreciation to the central government for the implementation of Otsus in the Land of Papua.

"Thank you, the central government for giving special autonomy to indigenous Papuans. This special autonomy is proof that the government has given the widest possible authority for OAP to regulate their livelihoods on their own land, "said Hengky Worait as a community leader in South Sorong.

Hengky also supports the government to continue Otsus, provided that the government can optimize the monitoring and evaluation function of Otsus in the regions by establishing an independent institution that carries out its tasks objectively.

"The government also needs to improve socialization and careful planning in the use of Otsus by looking at geographical, socio-cultural, and customary aspects, so that the implementation of Otsus can be right on target by paying attention to the potential of OAP's human resources and natural resources," he hoped.
