Community Leaders Support and Welcome PON XX Papua with Happiness

Ahead of the 100th day of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) support came from Papuan leaders so that the implementation of this grand national sporting activity could run smoothly and successfully on the Earth of Cendrawasih Papua.

Separately, the Jayapura religious leader, Pastor Jhon Baransano, appealed to the public to participate in the success of PON XX Papua. Pastor John also revealed that the presence of athletes from all over Indonesia is a pride for the Papuan people, so it must be welcomed properly.

"Because the presence of athletes and officials from 34 provinces in Papua is a matter of pride. Let's with a kind and clean heart, we welcome the activities of PON XX, as a good host. Let's leave all differences behind, let's see that this event has a positive impact and gives values ​​to good human relations, we can get to know all the ethnic groups that exist, "explained Pastor Jhon.

“We know that their presence is a blessing to us. As a religious leader, I urge and hope that let's make PON XX Papua a success," he added.

On a separate occasion, Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Marciano Norman emphasized that Papua was ready to hold the XX National Sports Week (PON).

"We received a report that the organizing committee was very ready to face the four-yearly national sports event. We also agreed to make this PON Papua a revival of the Indonesian people from the Covid-19 pandemic," Marciano said in a release from KONI Central.

Two Papuan animals, Kangpho and Drawa, are the mascots of the XX PON which will be held in Papua in 2020. Kangpho or tree kangaroo, which has been popular as a typical Australian animal, is in fact in Papua. Interestingly, Kangpho is a type of tree kangaroo and one of them that is very famous is the golden coat tree kangaroo or its Latin name is Dendrolagus Pulcherrimus.

Drawa in scientific language called Paradisaea Raggiana is a type of medium-sized songbird with a length of 34 cm. Drawa is an adult male bird that has decorations dominated by red, orange and mixed colors of red and orange on the side of the abdomen. While the chest hair is dark brown. Most uniquely, on Drawa's tail there are two long black ropes.
