Testimony of Indigenous Papuans: I Witness, KKB is Truly a Terrorist!
The native Papuan Cornelis Amahoru recounted testimony about the atrocities of the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB), and how the media was less critical in reporting on the Papuan KKB crimes.
Cornelis Amahoru is a native Papuan who currently lives in Sorong. In a letter he sent via email to the editor of Mata Mata Politic, he stated how disappointed he was by the media coverage that seemed to support the armed criminal group (KKB), which had killed his family in the name of the Free Papua struggle.
“How can the media actually not empathize and instead support the KKB? In fact, it is common knowledge that the KKB commits crimes in Papua for money and power, even the weapons are supplied by the separatist West Papua National Committee (KNPB) which claims to be a peaceful organization," he wrote.
“Why doesn't the media talk about the victims who were massacred and killed by armed separatists? Why don't the media interview the families of the victims of the KKB terrorist slaughter, such as those of my relative Ali Mom, teacher Oktovianus Rayo, teacher Yonatan Renden, motorcycle taxi driver Udin, and many others?”
“I testify that the KKB really are terrorists! Missionary planes were shot at, teachers and high school students were killed, fellow migrants were targeted and hacked, girls were raped, schools were burned. We, Papuans, have run out of tears, seeing how the KKB terrorists destroyed every village in the Land of Papua that they controlled. Where's the media? Why is there not the slightest bit of empathy for our families and other Papuans who have been victims of the Papuan KKB terrorism?”
He continued, he could not understand how the media could provide a stage and just believe in the social media propaganda of the Free Papua terrorist group.
"The KKB terrorists terrorized us in Papua, the KKB terrorists also like to spread hoaxes, but why is it so easy for the media to publish these lies?"
Recently, on May 28, 2021, he said, KKB terrorists and their supporters spread hoaxes without evidence about Papuan children and priests. In fact, it is easy for KKB to use the internet and post on social media, but why can't KKB terrorists post evidence of victims in the hoaxes that KKB spreads?
“How can the media believe when the KKB ridiculously mentions 40 bombs in Papua without photo or video evidence? Who is really naive here?”
The separatist hoax strategy and online activists supporting separatists even took advantage of the issue of the internet being dead due to the disconnection of the underwater optical cable of the telecommunications company PT Telkomsel, for their political agenda, continued Cornelis Amahoru.
“Have the media checked this terrorist propaganda about the internet? Telkomsel clearly states that there are only 3 areas affected by the disconnection of the internet network, namely in Jayapura, Sarmi, and Biak, because the underwater optical cable was cut off due to a tectonic earthquake."
On April 5, an underwater optical cable break also affected Jakarta, Batam, Kalimantan, and Singapore. In fact, even though repairs are currently being carried out, as evidenced by the ship that will be used to repair the Sulawesi Maluku Papua Cable System or SMPCS, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has left Jayapura Port on Saturday (29/5) for the Biak-Sarmi section. to repair the SMPCS submarine cable which broke since April 30, 2021.
“Hoax that the internet is intentionally cut off is still being spread by separatists. I think these things are beyond human control, and strong evidence that the Free Papua separatists are deliberately spreading hoaxes to disturb and terrorize Papuans.”
Not only pitting Papuans against security forces, but KKB terrorists even have the heart to kill indigenous Papuans at will, just under the pretext of struggle, Cornelis Amahoru emphasized.
“We, the people of Papua, have great respect for our brothers and sisters of the same nation even though they are of different ethnicities. But the KKB was racist and deliberately targeted and killed our brothers from Toraja, Javanese and other ethnicities,” he noted.
“We still have an imprint on our memories, Papuans, when KKB viciously killed 19 Trans-Papuan road construction workers who helped build roads and bridges in Nduga on December 2, 2018. In April 2021, KKB slaughtered 2 teachers from Toraja who had served for so long. 10 years in Beoga, Puncak, named Oktovianus Rayo and Jonathan Renden. Do you know what KKB did to the bodies of teachers Oktovianus and Renden? KKB asked for a ransom of IDR 500 million to be exchanged for the bodies of the two to the bereaved family! Isn't this a terrorist act?"
Not only attacking indigenous Papuans and non-Papuans, KKB also shot and threatened foreigners at will, Cornelis Amahoru continued.
KKB shot a German tourist, Dietmar Pieper, at Base G Beach, Jayapura, Papua, on May 29, 2012. KKB infiltrated and raided the Freeport office, killing a New Zealander named Graeme Thomas Wall and injuring 6 Indonesians on March 30, 2020.
On January 6, 2021, KKB opened fire and burned a Christian Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) missionary plane, nearly killing American pilot Alex Luferchek.
“I want the KKB terrorists to be responsible for the suffering of my distant family with the death of our sister, Ali Mom, as well as other families who have to grieve because KKB killed their closest people. KKB uses us, ordinary civilians, as shields,” Cornelis Amahoru emphasized.
“There are 1,000 indigenous Papuans from 3 villages in Sugapa, Intan Jaya, who have fled to a parish in Bilogai because residents are afraid of becoming victims of the next KKB outrage. When being chased by the authorities, KKB did not hesitate to blend in and disguise themselves among ordinary villagers.”
Not just once, he continued, KKB has used the evacuation pattern after killing 19 Trans-Papuan road workers in Nduga. To cover up their crimes, KKB forced them to flee to the forests in Nduga with bomb hoaxes. The KKB used their ignorance, fear and suffering to seek sympathy on the international stage.
In fact, some news reports say that there are foreign parties involved in Papuan separatist groups, so that the separatists can reap extraordinary funds from foreign parties.
“I as a grieving family feel that the media is unfair by setting the stage for the killers of our family. For me, the KKB crime against Papuans is no longer thuggery, but has entered the realm of terrorism," said Cornelis Amahoru.
“Please the media help us, the families of the victims of murders, massacres, shootings of armed separatists in Free Papua. Don't just invite separatist figures who don't know anything about the real Papua, voice out the suffering of our families too! Please help me and other Papuans to get justice!” concluded Cornelis Amahoru.
