OTSUS HAS ACCOMMODATED THE DESIRE OF GENUINE PAPUA PEOPLE

Youth leader of Pasir Putih, South Sorong Regency, Daniel Blesia, gave his support for the sustainability of Special Autonomy (Otsus) which has been going on for 20 years in Papua. He expressed this when met on Thursday (22/7/21).

The existence of Otsus so far has been very supportive of the indigenous Papuans (OAP). With the decision of the Revision of Law No. 21 of 2001 concerning Special Autonomy for Papua by the DPR-RI, the Special Autonomy Law has accommodated the specifics of OAP in the fields of politics, education, health, employment and the economy as well as providing support for the development of indigenous peoples.

"Currently, people only need to be grateful for the revision of the Special Autonomy Law, because the Papuan people have received special rights in the form of Special Autonomy in Papua which have accommodated proposals from Papuan leaders to produce the revised Special Autonomy Law," said Daniel.

He really appreciates the implementation of Otsus which has raised the dignity of OAP and will continue to think positively to move forward in developing the community, with the Otsus sustainability program being able to support OAP development and welfare programs. In the future, it is hoped that the Otsus program will not only be enjoyed by a handful of people but will be fully enjoyed by the indigenous Papuans.
