The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) invites the National Association of River,

Lake and Crossing Entrepreneurs (Gapasdap) to also develop river and lake transportation.

The Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Budi Setiyadi said that so far the field of river, lake and crossing transportation has focused more on developing crossings. Meanwhile, river and lake transportation is less ogled, even though river and lake transportation also plays an important role in logistics distribution, especially in areas that rely on rivers as transportation routes.

"Don't just look at the crossing, but also see the potential and opportunities that exist in rivers and lakes," Budi said in an official statement, Friday (22/10).

According to him, this is in line with the direction of the minister of transportation who asked to repair and make a pilot project for river transportation routes in Palembang, Central Kalimantan to support food estates, and in Asmat (Papua).

Especially for Papua, Budi Setiyadi revealed that river transportation in the Papua region is part of the concept of the Sea Toll Road. With river transportation, logistics carried by ships can be forwarded to inland areas traversed by rivers so that disparities in the price of goods can be suppressed.

Budi also said that the opportunities and potential for river and lake transportation are still very open.

"I invite the association to jointly conduct a survey of the existing potential so that later new ideas and ideas related to river and lake transportation will emerge," he said.
