BI: Papuan Economy Begins to Rise, Money Circulation of IDR 13.5 T
The Regional Representative Office (KPW) of Bank Indonesia (BI) Papua noted that in 2021 the amount of money circulating in the Papua region reached Rp. 13.5 trillion.
The head of the BI Papua Representative, Naek Tigor Sinaga said that the amount of money circulating in the Papua region in 2021 will increase or increase 13% compared to 2020.
This was conveyed in the Talk with the Media (BBM).
"The currency issued by BI in Papua has increased by around 13% compared to 2020," he explained.
Seeing the increase in the circulation of money this year, rich Naek Tigor Sinaga indicates an increase in the economy of the community which had slumped due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Economic growth in Papua is starting to rise with the increase in the amount of money being circulated even though the Covid-19 virus is still endemic," he explained.
Compared to 2020, the amount of money circulating in the Papua region reached Rp. 11.9 trillion.
The money was distributed through seven cash deposit offices spread across Merauke, Timika, Serui, Biak Nabire, Sorong, and Wamena.
Cash deposits are held to facilitate the distribution of money to banks operating in the vicinity.
