Papuan Youth Organizations Assisted by BIN Plant Corn on Ex-Palm Lands

The Governor of West Papua, Dominggus Mandacan collaborated with the Inspirational Young Papua organization (PMI) in planting corn on former oil palm land. The movement is expected to open up job opportunities for the surrounding community.

"If millennial farmers from PMI and up to 2 million hectares of land in West Papua can continue to be supported and utilized. Then the community's economy will improve and the younger generation will prosper with lots of jobs," said Dominggus in a written statement, Thursday (12/23/2020). 2021).
 
It is known, Inspirational Young Papua (PMI) is under the guidance of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN). They are tasked with bringing new enthusiasm for Papuan youth. Through this PMI, young Papuan people can implement the potential of their creative ideas.
 
According to Dominggus, the program, which is supported by President Joko Widodo, targets as many as 2000 millennial farmers. But as a first step, he pushed PMI as an influencer in the movement.

"The president has launched a millennial farmer program in Indonesia and in West Papua it is targeted that there will be 2000 millennial farmers, which will be run by Inspirational Young Papuans and supported by the Pabar Regional Government," he explained.
 
Meanwhile, the Coordinator of Inspirational Young Papua (PMI) for the West Papua Region, Simon Tabuni, explained that his party would cooperate with the government in the program.

"PMI synergizes with the Central Government, Regional Government, and various other parties to encourage the younger generation to develop agriculture to improve the welfare of the Papuan people," Simon explained.
 
In addition, Simon also promised to continue to encourage and invite people to turn into entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector.

"PMI is ready to support the Government's program through Millennial Farmers to encourage entrepreneurship in agriculture," he concluded.
