BI Provides Tractor Assistance to Clear Corn Land in Papua

Bank Indonesia (BI) representatives of Papua Province handed over the assistance of 1 unit of tractor machine to a group of farmers assisted by Papua Muda Inspiration (PMI). This tool will later be used to clear up a 5-10 hectare (ha) corn farm.

It is known, Inspirational Young Papua (PMI) is under the guidance of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN). They have a duty to bring new enthusiasm to young Papuan people. Through PMI, young Papuans are expected to be able to implement the potential of their creative ideas.

The chairman of the Inspirational Young Papuans (PMI) of West Papua, Yakob Tabuni, appreciated BI's good steps. He said land clearing activities are planned to be carried out in early 2022.
 
"The United Papuan Farmers Association Farmers Group under the guidance of the Merauke PMI Regional Coordinator will use the tractor for the process of clearing an area of ​​5 - 10 hectares of maize farming land," Yakob said in a written statement, Saturday (12/25/2021).

"The activity is planned to start after the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year celebrations," he added.

According to Yakobà, the provision of agricultural equipment is a form of Bank Indonesia's concern in supporting the creation of millennial farmers in the Papua region.
 
"The handover of the tractor engine is a realization of the symbolic handover of aid which was carried out on December 15, 2021," explained Yakob.
