Jayapura Mayor Benhur Tomi Mano supports the division of Papua. According to him, the expansion of new autonomous regions can bring services closer to the local community.
Banhur explained that the division of Papua is currently being discussed by the Indonesian House of Representatives and the plan will be announced in 2023. There are 3-4 new autonomous regions in Papua, namely the Provinces of South Papua, Central Papua and Papua Mountains.
"I support the expansion of Papua, for equitable development and community welfare, as well as bringing services closer to the community. We are waiting for the results, which are being discussed by the DPR RI," he explained, Thursday (30/12).
Benhur believes that with the expansion in Papua, each candidate for regional head will fight in their respective regions.
"I am a native son of Tabi who entered the territory of the Papua Province, will run in the 2024 Papua Governor Election. I believe the opportunity exists," Benhur added.
Benhur, who is a PDI-P cadre, is sure he will get sympathy from the local community. Especially with the issue of the expansion of Papua.
“I see that I have a great opportunity with the system implemented by the central government, with the expansion of Papua. This is also done so that Papua remains the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and the Red and White," Benhur was sure.
