President Jokowi wants to meet Papuan KKB members who have given up on these conditions

In the midst of continuing to escalate the conflict due to the actions of members of the Papuan Armed Criminal Group or KKB Papua, not a few of them have surrendered and want to return to the lap of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

This seems to be good news for President Jokowi who does not want Papua to be separated from the Republic of Indonesia.

President Joko Widodo or Jokowi is said to be willing to meet members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) who have returned to the lap of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

This was conveyed by the Regional Police Chief or Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mathius D Fakhiri.

"It is true that the President some time ago stated that he was willing to meet the former KKB who was aware and wanted to work with his brother to develop the region," said the Papuan Police Chief, quoted from Antara, Saturday, December 25, 2021.

"However, they or the former KKB must absolutely stop spreading armed terror acts in Papua."

Mathius admitted that he had asked religious leaders to take part in providing understanding to the KKB.

This needs to be done so that they no longer disturb the residents and security forces, but actively participate in developing the Papua region.

"The role of religious leaders is very important because if we continue to approach groups that do not agree with us, I am sure that one day they will realize it," said Mathius.

“Moreover, the Papuan Police made a breakthrough by recruiting 2,000 non-commissioned officers through the Noken Bintara Program which was financed through the special autonomy fund.”

Currently, of the 2,000 non-commissioned officers, 1,998 have been sworn in. They will later be assigned to their home area or the police station where they registered.

As for the two non-commissioned police officers who were not appointed, one of them died as a result of a traffic accident that occurred in Jambi.

The presence of the non-commissioned officer, Mathius said, is expected to be a bridge that will make their families who are still at odds want to return to the bosom of the Republic of Indonesia.

"This includes being willing to put down their weapons, so that the community can enjoy the results of the development," said Inspector General Pol Mathius.

Previously it was reported that as many as 21 members of the Papuan Armed Criminal Group aka KKB Papua in the Ambaidiru Region, Kosiwo District, Papua surrendered and made a promise to return to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
