To Illuminate Residents Who Have No Electricity, The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Presents SPEL and APDAL in Inland Papua and West Papua
The night in Coisi Village, Minyambouw District, Arfak Mountains Regency (Pegaf), West Papua Province, is now different from the previous nights. The night that used to be pitch black is now bright thanks to the presence of APDAL (Electricity Distribution Equipment) in residents' homes and SPEL (Electrical Energy Charging Station) which utilizes sunlight through solar panels as its energy source.
Kampung Coisi is one of 37 villages in Papua and West Papua that received APDAL and SPEL assistance, a program from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) together with PT PLN (Persero). villages that have not been reached by the electricity grid.
The total APDAL packages installed in Papua and West Papua Provinces are 12,586 units, including 94 units distributed to residents of Kampung Coisi and Kampung Bima. Meanwhile, for SPEL, there are three points prepared to fulfill the charging needs of the residents of the two villages.
"In mid-2020, Mr. President Joko Widodo has ordered the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and PLN to electrify 433 villages that do not have electricity throughout Indonesia, of which 102 villages are located in West Papua Province, including Kampung Coisi. To electrify these villages, expansion of the electricity network, construction of PLTS and other EBT plants, as well as the installation of SPEL and APDAL," said Director General of EBTKE at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana, at the Launching and Socialization of SPEL and APDAL Programs centered in Coisi Village. , Pegaf Regency, in a press release Monday (6/11).
Dadan explained, this APDAL package consists of two main tools, namely APDAL and IRAS. APDAL is a type of battery used to store electrical energy with a capacity of 500 Wh which will later be connected to IRAS (Direct Current House Installation). IRAS consists of 3 LED lights and 1 MCB, while the APDAL also provides an outlet that can be used to power electronic equipment such as fans or LED TVs.
To charge the APDAL, PLN has built an Electrical Energy Charging Station (SPEL) which is also equipped with lamps for street lighting.
This APDAL package will be provided by the Government for free and is not for sale. "For that we hope that it can be cared for and maintained properly, so that it can be used for a long time," Dadan ordered.
"Regarding the management of APDAL and SPEL, we have also assigned 2 young people whom we named Patriot Energi to accompany you for the next 1 year, to conduct an inventory of new and renewable energy potentials that are ready to be developed in this region," continued Dadan.
On that occasion, the Regent of the Arfak Mountains, Yosias Saroy, expressed his gratitude for the attention given to the people of Arfak Regency. "Thanks to the Central Government. Previously in some of our villages it was already dark at six o'clock, there was no more activity. But now at night activities can be done because there are lights," he said.
Before there was APDAL and SPEL, residents of Kampung Coisi and Kampung Bima received lighting from torches (kerosene) and diesel/gasoline generators which cost Rp. 140,000 to Rp. 200,000.
Meanwhile, EVP of Regional Planning and Control for Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua and Nusa Tenggara Erman Priyono Wasito Adi on that occasion said that in the Papua and West Papua regions with geographic areas that are difficult to reach, the potential for villages that have not yet enjoyed electricity will be mapped. its energy sources, especially new and renewable energy, will gradually be able to enjoy electricity evenly.
To note, the APDAL package has a 5 (five) year warranty. The business entity designated as the executor of the APDAL procurement will provide a service center that will serve the repair of the APDAL Package for 5 (five) years. The location of the service center in the West Papua region for the allocation of APDAL from 2021 to d. 2022 as many as 1,415 units, as many as 2 (two) service center points, namely in Manokwari and Sorong.
