Brimob member shot during a shootout with KKB in Kiwirok

A shootout between personnel belonging to the "Peace Cartenz" task force and KKB in Kiwirok, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua, Saturday, resulted in a member being shot.

"It is true that a Brimob member who is part of the Cartenz Peace task force, namely Bharada Resi Nugroho, was shot during a shootout with the KKB," said the Head of the Bintang Mountains Police AKBP Cahyo Sukarnito to Antara.

The police chief, who was contacted via his cell phone, admitted that a gun battle took place at around 08.WIT when members were making preparations for the helicopter's arrival.

Initially the KKB attacked by shooting at members who were guarding the arrival of the Police helicopter, resulting in a shootout.
 
During the shootout, Bharada Resi Nugroho was shot in the upper left chest.

The team had asked for help from Infantry Battalion PR/431 who later joined the post and helped deal with the victims.

"The condition of the victim Bharada Resi is reported to be stable and waiting for evacuation using a police helicopter," said AKBP Cahyo Sukarnito.

Earlier Monday (17/1) Bharatu Bachtiar was shot in Kiwirok. The Cartenz Peace Task Force is the new name for the Nemangkawi operation code.
