Hundreds of Students Geruduk Papua Governor's Office, Demand Clarity on Scholarships
A group of students who are members of the Domestic and Foreign Papuan Student Forum held a demonstration in front of the Papua Governor's Office, Jalan Soa Siu Dok II, Jayapura City, Wednesday (16/1/2022).
The 150 students asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to immediately conduct an examination of the special autonomy fund (Otsus) managed by the Papua BPSDM, so far.
The masses have gathered at the Papua Governor's Office since 09.00 WIT.
After a long speech, they were then invited in to meet with Assistant 1 for Government Affairs at the Papua Regional Secretary, Doren Wakerkwa.
The person in charge of the action who is also a student who feels neglected, Kadir Yelipele, said that his party conveyed six points of demands.
"We are here, students who receive the Special Autonomy Fund scholarships, representatives from several countries, came to demand an immediate review of the use of the Special Autonomy funds, especially in the field of education which we judged to have failed," he explained to Tribun-Papua.com, on the sidelines of the demonstration.
He admitted that students who received education funds from Otsus were abandoned without any definite clarity regarding their fate in Papua, after being sent home.
"I was sent to the Philippines to study Aviation in 5 years starting from 2015, I was there for 6 months, but I was returned for no apparent reason," he admitted.
Upon his return to Papua, Yelipele admitted that he was abandoned, and there was no clear information until now.
