Member of the Nemangkawi Task Force Bharatu Bachtiar Shot by KKB Papua, Victim of Gunshot Wound in Left Back

A member of the Nemangkawi Task Force, Bharatu Bachtiar, was shot by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Kiwirok, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua.

The shooting incident was confirmed by the Head of the Bintang Mountains Police, AKBP Cahyo Sukarnito, Monday (17/1/2022).

"It is true that there was a member of the Nemangkawi Task Force who was injured on the back of the left shoulder," AKBP, quoted from Antara.
 
The police chief did not provide further information regarding the chronology of the shooting incident.

However, he stated that currently Bharatu Bachtiar's condition was in a stable condition.

Previously, the TNI-Polri who were members of the Nemangkawi Task Force were also fired upon while on patrol above Mount Impura, Ambaidiru Village, Kosiwo District, Yapen Archipelago Regency, Papua.

"When the team was on patrol, the team was shot twice by the KKB, so the team replied to the guess," said Head of the Nemangkawi Operations Public Relations Task Force Kombes Pol Ahmad Musthofa Kamal in his official statement on Wednesday (15/12/2021).

After a shootout incident, the joint team arrested a young man suspected of being a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

The young man who was arrested was named Adi Rawai at the age of 27 years. While his other comrades fled to the forest.
 
In addition to securing Adi Rawai, the joint team conducted a search of the house or hut that was used as the command headquarters.

"From the search, several pieces of evidence were confiscated," said Kamal, who is also the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police.

A number of evidences were also secured in this arrest, namely a saw, badik, bayonet, 3 machetes, homemade weapons, red beret, striped PDL pants, striped PDL shirt, and long-sleeved shirt.

Then, a tactical shirt with the Morning Star flag, black jeans, red-rimmed couplings, a small Morning Star flag, a Morning Star-flagged headband, and a green strap.
 
Next, a pin with a picture of a bird, an 'Orasisuei' booklet, a notebook, a referendum book, a family contribution card, a written book, and a small ruler.

"There were no casualties in the shootout. Joint personnel of the TNI and Polri are still pursuing other perpetrators known to have the initials HM, PM and YR," said Kamal.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with a case of treason on the basis of LP/176/XII/2021/SPKT I/RES YAPEN on December 9, 2021.

The alleged articles are Article 106 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 110 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

It is known that disturbances in security and public order (Kamtibmas) in Papua province are still dominated by terror groups from the KKB group.
 
Throughout 2021, there were 92 terror attacks that resulted in shot and death victims.

The KKB terror victims ranged from civilians to the Head of the Papuan Regional Intelligence Agency (BINDA) Major General TNI (Posthumous) I Gusti Putu Danny Karya Nugraha.

The Papuan Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mathius D Fakhiri in his reflection in 2021 stated that the disturbances occurred in 5 areas, namely Yahukimo Regency, Bintang Mountains, Intan Jaya, Puncak and Nduga Regency.

From the acts of dozens of terrors carried out by the KBB, they have claimed victims ranging from TNI-Polri personnel, as well as from civil society to members of the KKB themselves.
 
Data on the number of TNI soldiers who died as a result of the terror disturbances of the Papuan KKB were 11 people, and 19 others were injured receiving medical treatment at the hospital.

As for the victims of members of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) as many as 4 people and 3 others were injured.

Meanwhile, victims from civilians who died due to being shot by Papuan KKB gangs during 2021 were recorded as 19 people and 11 people injured.
