Replace the Nemangkawi Task Force, Cartenz Peaceful Operation Will Foster Papuan People

The period of operation of the Nemangkawi Task Force, which used to hunt down terrorist members of the armed criminal group (KKB) will end and be replaced by Operation Peaceful Cartenz. The National Police said that the target of the Operation Cartenz Peace operation were Papuans (OAP).
"(OAP) is an operational target, meaning a coaching target," said Karo Penmas of the National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Wednesday (12/1/2022).
 
Ramadhan said members of the Police who were involved in the Cartenz Peace Operation would foster the Papuan community in various sectors and fields of activity. These include the agricultural sector to improving welfare.
 
Therefore, Ramadhan explained, later the police will interact a lot and have direct activities with the people in Papua in this operation. The goal is to make people in Papua more prosperous.

"So there are efforts by the Police together with the community to carry out activities aimed at the welfare of the community. The name is Binmas (community development) noken or an approach to the community," he added.

Previously, the Nemangkawi Operations Task Force, which used to take legal action against KKB terrorist members in Papua, was terminated. The name of the Nemangkawi Task Force was changed to Operation Peaceful Cartenz 2022.

"Later on, the Nemangkawi Operation will end, and its name will be changed to Operation Peaceful Cartenz 2022," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan when contacted, Monday (10/1).

Ramadhan said the Nemangkawi Task Force's operating period ended on January 25, 2022. The number of personnel for Operation Cartenz Peace is still being discussed.

"(The Nemangkawi Task Force ends) January 25. The number of personnel involvement plans is still being worked out," he said.
 
The Cartenz Peace Operation puts forward three functions. The functions in question are intelligence functions, public relations functions, and public relations functions.

Ramadhan emphasized that legal action was still being carried out in the Cartenz Peace Operation by the Gakkum task force. However, legal action is not put forward.

"The way of acting that is put forward in the Cartenz Peace Operation is persuasive and preemptive. By prioritizing the intelligence function, the bimas function, and the public relations function with the support of other functions. The preventive function is sabhara and Gakkum. So, Gakkum is a supporting function," added Ramadhan.
