Papuan Police Chief : We Are Ready to Support Government Policy
The Papuan Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Mathius D. Fakhiri, emphasized that his party was always ready to support government policies. In this case, the plan for the expansion of the Province in Papua.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chair II of Committee I DPD RI, Fernando Sinaga, said that our goal here is to inventory materials and proposals for expansion after the amendment to the Papua Special Autonomy Law.
The birth of the Special Autonomy Law No. 2 of 2021, especially Article 76, creates a new era for the future of Papua. The article is an affirmation of the purpose of special autonomy to accelerate equitable development, improve public services and community welfare, as well as elevate the dignity of the indigenous Papuans by taking into account political, administrative, legal aspects, socio-cultural unity, readiness of human resources, basic infrastructure, economic capacity, developments in the future, and or the aspirations of the Papuan people, he explained.
As for the division mechanism, Sinaga continued, namely the Special Autonomy Law that stipulates that the Government and the House of Representatives can divide Provinces and Municipalities into autonomous regions to accelerate equitable development, improve public services, and improve community welfare, as well as elevate the dignity of Papuans.
Sinaga added that the division of provincial and city districts into provinces and municipal districts could be carried out with the approval of the MRP and the DPRP.
After seriously paying attention to socio-cultural unity, readiness of human resources, economic capabilities and future developments, he concluded.
