Staff of President Billy Mambrasar: International University of Papua will become the 'Harvard' of Indonesia

Under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, the Land of Papua has become the center of attention of this country. Especially with the direct instruction from the President to accelerate the development of Papua and West Papua which is written in Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2020. At the end of 2021, Papua managed to amaze by hosting PON XX 2020 and Peparnas 2021.

The central government also fully supports the education sector in Papua, as one of the efforts in advancing human resources. On Monday afternoon, February 14, 2022, Special Staff. President Billy Mambrasar attended the Handover of the Decree for the Establishment and Inauguration of the Papua International University which was held at Swiss-Bellhotel Jayapura.

As a native Papuan son who graduated from Oxford University and is currently continuing his education at Harvard University, Billy Mambrasar is proud of the presence of higher education at an international level in Papua. Met after the event, Billy Mambrasar is optimistic that the International University of Papua will become the "Harvard" of Indonesia.

"The presence of the Papua International University provides fresh air for the education sector, especially higher education in Papua. This of course supports the central government in realizing Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2020. In the presentation of the introduction of campus profiles in the event, I was optimistic that this university can become 'Harvard' in Indonesia. In addition to having two excellent faculties, namely; Science & Technology and Teacher Training & Education, UIP is also facilitated with an international-scale Research Center which will greatly support students' learning facilities, "said Billy Mambrasar.

In this event, the Papua International University also launched the application for the TKBEL education platform with world class technology. Mr. Samuel Tabuni as the founder of the Mega Education Papua (MEP) foundation which oversees the International University of Papua, is one of the founders of this application along with experts from abroad.

Closing the interview session, Billy Mambrasar expressed his hope that the entire Papuan International University academic community would be fully committed to providing quality education to advance the Land of Papua.

"As someone who is also involved in the world of education, I invite the entire academic community of the Papua International University to contribute to the advancement of the Land of Education through higher education. I believe this campus will contribute superior quality human resources who will advance the Land of Papua and also help Indonesia in pursuing the demographic bonus in 2030 and Indonesia Gold in 2045," concluded Billy Mambrasar.

As is known, the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 24/E/O/2022 concerning the Permit for the Establishment of the Papua International University (UIP) was issued on January 17, 2022, then the Handover of the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology to the MEP Foundation and the Soft Launching of the Papua International University (UIP).
