Expectations of the Governor of West Papua for the Movement of the National Capital

Moving the state capital to East Kalimantan (Kaltim) is considered to shorten the travel time from eastern Indonesia to the state capital.

This is because so far, regional heads or local governments and people in eastern Indonesia have to take from 2 to 5 hours to get to the capital city of Jakarta. By shortening the travel time will also have an impact on the costs incurred.

"This IKN also makes it easier for us from the east not only to have to fly 5 hours to Jakarta or fly 4 hours to Jakarta, but we can fly 2 hours or 2.5 hours to get to the country's capital, I hope in the future," said the Governor of Papua. Barat Dominggus Mandacan in the Presidential Secretariat YouTube Channel, Monday (14/3).

Dominggus emphasized that the government and the people of West Papua support the development of IKN Nusantara in East Kalimantan. He also hopes that the construction process can be completed on time and can be inaugurated and used immediately.

"What is clear is that being here means that I represent, yes, as the government but also represent the community, but also my capacity as the Chief of the Arfak Tribe who is present here representing the government, representing the community to show that we support IKN development," he explained.

The Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Viktor B Laiskodat said the same thing. Viktor said moving the country's capital to East Kalimantan for NTT was a very good thing. This is because it will realize economic equality in Indonesia.

IKN Nusantara is also considered to provide new growth for areas in Kalimantan, Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and even Papua.

"And if we come to the nation's capital it doesn't take us 3 hours. It takes us 1 hour 45 minutes, we are already here, and it has a good impact," said Viktor.
