The expansion of 3 provinces in Papua, Sulaeman Hamzah: The goal is to bring services closer to the community
Member of Commission IV of the DPR RI for the Papuan electoral district, Sulaeman L. Hamzah, explained that the expansion of 3 new provinces in Papua has a priority goal of bringing services closer to the community.
The expansion of 3 new provinces in Papua, among others, South Papua, Central Papua, and the Central Mountains.
In addition, said Sulaeman, the central government and the Indonesian House of Representatives fully support the aspirations of the figures in Papua.
"The government responded to what the figures in Papua had said so that the expansion could take place as soon as possible. The DPR RI welcomes it. We hope that the community will prosper quickly," he said.
The legislator from Senayan acknowledged that the Special Autonomy Law (Otsus) in Papua had recently been passed and rolled out, but the government's desire is to approach the service to the community.
“Like it or not, the province must be expanded so that it will focus more on service programs to the community. We hope that the acceleration of development is supported by Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2020, the remaining time the Jokowi administration will be able to provide the best service for Papua, "he said.
According to this member of the NasDem Party DPR, the results of monitoring from the center show that isolated communities in the interior of Papua have not been touched by services.
"We hope that the local government can make it more effective, but it turns out that it has not been able to touch it until the village/village is isolated. Therefore, the service approach must be divided into 3 provinces in Papua, the matter of regencies will follow,” he explained.
Sulaeman added, when the division of a new province in Papua is legal, the physical development sector, infrastructure and community empowerment are as much as possible for the prosperity of the people, which until the 20th year of Otsus has not been well served.
“After expanding, the budget must continue to roll. Governance runs as the main goal of the service approach to the community. Optimizing service coverage from one district to another," he added.
It is known, after being discussed in Commission II of the DPR RI and has entered the Legislative Body of the DPR RI, recently the division of Papua has been approved for 3 new provinces, namely, South Papua, Central Papua and the Central Mountains.
Sulaeman explained that the government and DPR RI are trying to complete the target so that the New Autonomous Region Law (DOB) for 3 new provinces in Papua is completed by the end of this year.
"Our job in the DPR is only to discuss it and then promulgate it until the hammer knocks, it's finished," he concluded.
