TNI explanation regarding KKB Attack Kills 8 PTT Employees in Puncak Papua



Eight employees of PT Palaparing Timur Telematika (PTT) died after being attacked by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Kago Village, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Papua, Wednesday (2/3/2022), at around 13.00 WIT.

Head of Information for Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih Colonel Inf. Aqsha Erlangga explained that the incident occurred when workers were repairing Telkomsel's Tower Base Transceiver Station (BTS) 3.

"As a result of the attack, 8 PTT employees died," said Aqsha in a written statement, Thursday (3/3/2022).
 
Aqsha explained, based on CCTV footage of PTT's tower, it showed that there was one worker who survived this attack.

The worker, named NS, was later found out asking for rescue assistance at Tower BTS 3.

Currently, NS is still in the surrounding area with his colleagues who died.

From the information obtained, until now the evacuation has not been able to be carried out due to weather constraints.

The plan is that the new evacuation will be carried out on Friday (4/3/2022).
 
Aqsha explained that the Papuan Police and Kodam XVII/Cendrawasih would assist in the evacuation of survivors and the bodies of those who died.

"And of course the Papuan Police will look for the killer," said Aqsha.

Aqsa added that this incident was an extraordinary crime.

"This is an extraordinary crime that resulted in the death of 8 civilians, so the handling will be handled by the Police, in this case the Papuan Police," he added.
