How the Papuan Young Generation Can Be Smart If All Schools Are Burned
The Papuan Police Chief, Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri, said he was concerned after the action of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) set fire to a school building and tortured a school teacher in Hitadipa District, Intan Jaya, Papua.
"How can the younger generation of Papua be advanced and intelligent if school buildings are burned and their teachers are persecuted," said Fakhiri, Friday (2/4/2022), as reported by Kompas.com.
According to him, the decline in education occurs when school buildings are burned and teachers are mistreated.
He hopes that KKB will no longer burn public facilities so that children can go to school comfortably.
"Let's all maintain education and health facilities so that children can get an education like children in other areas," he said.
The action of KKB burning buildings and persecuting teachers took place in Hitadipa District, which is adjacent to Sugapa District, on Wednesday (30/3/2022).
The Head of Public Relations of the Papuan Police, Kombes AM Kamal, said the incident began when members saw a puff of smoke coming from the direction of Hitadipa Village.
"The incident started at around 17.50 WIT. Related to this, members conducted an investigation and it was found that the KKB had burned the Hitadipa one-roof school building," he said, Thursday (31/2/2022).
School teacher abuse
Not only did they enter and burn nine classrooms, the KKB, numbering tens of people, also abused two civilians, one of whom was a school teacher.
"They not only burned down the school building, they also assaulted two residents of Pill.
One of them was a teacher at the school they burned down," he said.
Kamal said KKB Intan Jaya was behind the burning and persecution.
"The action was carried out by the Armed Criminal Group led by Undius Kogoya and Aibon Kogoya," he said.
