PLN pushes to increase the ratio of electrified villages in Papua
PT PLN (Persero) continues to be committed to completing the target of electrifying all villages where in 2022 it plans to build 48 Solar Power Plants (PLTS) with a capacity of between 10 and 120 kilowatt peak (kWp) to electrify 71 villages in Papua and West Papua.
General Manager of PLN Main Unit for Papua and West Papua Region, Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin in a press release in Jayapura, Monday, said it was carried out with a focus on completing villages where isolated low-voltage networks have been built.
"In addition to focusing on electrifying villages, we also continue to improve the reliability of the system in the cities of Papua and West Papua," he said.
According to Andy, the power generation capacity has now reached 545 mega watts with a peak load of 424 mega watts, while the electrification ratio of Papua and West Papua has reached 96.84 percent.
"This year we have a priority to complete the target of 427 villages with no electricity status in the 2020 rural electricity program," he said.
He explained that as of May 2022, 198 villages have been electrified and 229 villages have not been electrified.
"We continue to work on completing the assignment to electrify all villages in Papua and West Papua, with the target that the 229 villages can be immediately electrified by PLN according to the roadmap that has been prepared," he said.
He added that to answer the challenges that exist in electrifying villages in Papua and West Papua, PLN has a breakthrough by providing technology that makes it easier to distribute equipment, especially in remote areas.
"We are using PV SPEL (PV module-based Electrical Energy Charging Station) with solar energy-based APDAL (Electricity Charging Equipment)/Talis (Electricity Tubes) to electrify remote villages which is currently being used in 88 villages in Papua and West Papua. ," he said.
