Biak regency government encourages pokdarwis to spearhead tourism management

The Biak Numfor Regency Government, Papua, encourages eight tourism awareness groups (pokdarwis) in the area to be able to spearhead the regional tourism sector by professionally managing tourism objects that have high selling points.

"The Pokdarwis formed must be able to demonstrate the existence of managing our tourism sector. There must be tourism products that have external selling values," said Head of the Biak Tourism Office, Onny Dangeubun in Biak, Sunday.

Onny said that one of the pokdarwis that was considered quite good at managing tourism objects was the Binsari Japanese Cave.

"Every member of the pokdarwis in the Binsari Japanese cave has done a good job, especially keeping the environment clean at tourist destination locations every day," said Onny.

He said the Biak Numfor Regency Government would continue to strive to provide guidance to the eight Pokdarwis that had been formed.

The purpose of the formation of Pokdarwis is so that tourist attractions in Biak Numfor Regency can be managed more optimally.

Onny admitted that the development of tourism in each region can never be separated from the participation of community and youth awareness in the area.

"The progress of tourism objects in terms of business will certainly have an impact on increasing our local revenue as well," he said
