This Young Papuan Leader Calls DOB a Golden Opportunity for Indigenous Papuans

Young Papuan leader Steve Rick Elson Mara views the expansion of the New Autonomous Region as a golden opportunity for indigenous Papuans to progress, work and be independent.

"DOB Papua is a golden opportunity for Papuans to progress, work, and be independent, as well as a means of proving in various fields, of course they must be ready with qualified skills and capacities," said Steve to Tribun-Papua.com, Tuesday (21/6/2022). ).

The man who was born in Wamena on September 8, 1994, is optimistic that Papua will be better after the division.

"Breaking the span of control that has not been optimal so far, government services in terms of education, economy, social and health will increasingly touch remote corners," he said.

On several occasions, he has also requested that indigenous Papuans (OAP) with a bachelor's degree can enter the workforce without a test.

Steve even asked that 80 percent of the OAP seats or 16,000 seats be given to Papuans who have a degree and if necessary without taking the test.

He said the formation of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) for Papua would soon be realized.

"For me, there is no more time to talk about the pros and cons of new autonomous regions, but we must have a constructive view in the future, how Papuans can fill the division," he said.

According to him, the various actions taken are just a waste of energy.

"It's time for us to sit down together and look at Papua in the future. With the formation of new new autonomous regions, what opportunities should we encourage to be heard so that we as masters in our own country can be able to fill new autonomous regions," he said.

Steve views the Papua New Guinea as an opportunity for Papuans, so that they can establish themselves to fill every opportunity that exists.
