Indonesia Youth Diplomacy Presents in Papua and Ready to Succeed the G20 Presidency

The head of the center for Indonesia Youth Diplomacy (IYD), Michael Viktor Sianipar formed a local branch for IYD Tanah Papua.

This is in order to make YOUTH 20 (Y20) a success which will be held on 17-18 June 2022. In this activity, IYD Tanah Papua will organize activities for Papuan youth in Papua and West Papua Provinces.

"So we will have activities at universities and outside campus as well, to be able to invite Papuan youth to have confidence and optimism and be able to participate in building a better future for the Papuan people.", Michael Viktor Sianipar, in Manokwari, Monday, May 30, 2022.

He said that his party was doing this in the context of Indonesia's G20 leadership, because now the world is heading towards globalization and we need the next nation's leaders who understand the global world that is the goal of IYD.

It was stated that Indonesia has officially held the G20 Presidency since December 1, 2021. The G20 Forum is a representation of the world economy, because the countries that are members of it control 85 percent of the world's GDP.

As part of the success of Indonesia's leadership in the G20, Indonesian Youth Diplomacy (IYD) was formed as a forum for young leaders from all members to push the agenda for the future of youth.

"Indonesia Youth Diplomacy conducts a branch in Papua to help prepare Papuan youths so that they have a wider global perspective and can actively participate in raising Indonesia on a global level," explained Michael Viktor Sianipar.

Michael added that this activity will continue and of course the Youth 20 event is a big momentum in Manokwari, West Papua.

"Honestly, not many G20 events are held in Papua, only Women 20 (W20) and Youth 20 (Y20) are held on the Earth of Cendrawasih," he said.

“With this event, there will be 50 Papuan youths gathered, from representatives and choices. But hope apart from the Y20 event in Manokwari, there are events before and after. We want to continue this activity because we think in the long term to prepare Papua's young generation for Indonesia," he said.

Indonesian Youth Diplomacy with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia was appointed to be the official organizer of Y20 Indonesia in 2022. The main theme that will be raised is “From Recovery to Resilience: Rebuilding the Youth Agenda After Covid-19”

Chairman and Co-Chair of Y20 Indonesia 2022 Michael Victor Sianipar said next year's Y20 needs to be used as a momentum with young people to push agendas that are of concern to youth as global policies.

Meanwhile, Pemuda Papua, Michael Yarisetouw who was entrusted as Co-Chair of Indonesia Youth Diplomacy (IYD) Papua Branch, said that IYD Papua Branch invites all Papuan people, especially in Manokwari to support the central and local committees for the success of the Y20 activities held in Manokwari. , West Papua.

"This is a major activity attended by youth delegations from various countries as well as youth representatives from various regions in Indonesia to capture and discuss strategic issues among youth which will then be voiced at the Y20 summit in Jakarta," said o-Chair Indonesia. He said that this Y20 activity was a monumental activity for the young generation of Papua to be able to promote tourism and the various advantages of the land of Papua abroad through the delegates who were present which was also an opportunity for the young Papuan generation to build networks with youth from various countries.
