The Papuan Provincial Government appreciates the Indigenous Peoples Development Foundation for protecting nature
The Papuan Provincial Government (Pemprov) appreciates the efforts made by the local Indigenous Community Development Foundation to protect nature by planting tree seedlings.
Head of the Papua Province Forestry and Environment Service (DKLH), Jan Jap Ormuseray in a press release received by Antara in Jayapura, Thursday, said that his party fully supports every activity that can protect and preserve nature.
"We give appreciation and appreciation for every effort made to protect and preserve the earth as did the indigenous peoples development foundation," he said.
According to Jan, Papua's forests are one of the lungs of the world, so the Papua Provincial Government has decided to maintain more than 80 percent of the forest area.
"Recognizing that Papua's forests must be preserved, Papua's forests today are truly a concern of the whole world," he said.
He explained at the 14th Annual Governors Climate and Forest (GCF) Task Force Annual Meeting in 2021 which was attended by Governor Lukas Enambe in Brazil where countries in the world also acknowledged that forests in Papua were still relatively much better than other countries. other.
"In fact, by acclamation 39 countries in the world appointed Papua as the host of the GCF Task Force's annual meeting which will be held in 2023," he said again.
He added that this is an indicator to assess the joint efforts of the Papuan Provincial Government together with indigenous peoples to maintain forests which so far are far better than other countries and other regions in Indonesia.
"So this can be an example for other regions because the relationship between the government, the ondoafi, tribal chiefs in Papua related to efforts to preserve and maintain local wisdom with forest and environmental conservation is going very well," he said again.
Just for information, Jan Ormuseray was present as a resource person at a limited discussion about the importance of forest conservation in Papua and followed up with a tree planting action plan which took place at the Office of the Papuan Customary Council in the Tabi Region, in Kleblouw, Asei Kecil Village, East Sentani District, Jayapura Regency, Papua, Tuesday (14/6) which was held by the Papua Indigenous Peoples Development Foundation.
