The Government Supports the Development of Young Papuan Talents
The government supports the development of young Papuan talents in the field of sports to continue to grow and develop through a cooperation agreement between the Papuan Sports Special High School (Smankor) and the Japanese Sports High School Yamagata Chuou Gakkou.
The collaboration between the two schools is related to learning from four sports. The four sports subjects include athletics, football, volleyball and boxing. The choice of a Japanese high school in collaborating with SMANKOR is because Japan is famous for its environmental cleanliness. This is done because if the Papuan High School has athletes who have talent but are not supported by cleanliness, it will be useless.
As said by Rini Modouw as Expert Staff to Deputy II for Human Development at the Presidential Staff Office, it is important to develop young Papuan talents, especially in the field of sports. This is because Papua is known as a warehouse for athletes, so there needs to be good mentors and coaches but supported by funds.
Rini together with the Papua Provincial Education and Archives Office and the collaboration between the two high schools believe that they will build connections so that during the leadership of President Joko Widodo, he will pay attention to the school building. Furthermore, they will build connections with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) in the development of the Papuan High School building in the future.
The results of the MoU will be submitted to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) RI so that the development of young Papuan talents can be in line with school education because human resource development is very important so that when graduates from the Papuan High School Education have a strong character.
The initial plan of cooperation was carried out for three years because apart from that, the SMANkor also had a cooperation agreement in the agricultural sector. With the MoU, the Papuan Provincial Government can assist in preparing infrastructure such as the provision of an internet network (wifi installation) and computers so that students can study well.
Furthermore, the Provincial Government of Papua continues to be committed to improving human resources (HR) by continuing the Affirmation of Secondary Education (ADEM), Affirmation of Higher Education (ADIK) and Education Fund Management Institutions (LPDP) in Bumi Cenderawasih.
Jery Yudianto as the Head of the Papua Province Communication and Information Office said that good cooperation between his party and the central government continues, one of which is in the field of education. According to Jery, through these programs, it will create superior human resources in Papua, not to mention the existence of scholarships from the special autonomy fund so as to improve the quality of Papuan children.
The author agrees with what Jery said because the existence of this national program will provide an extraordinary opportunity for indigenous Papuans to obtain quality secondary education services in schools and universities.
The Papua Province Communication and Information Office is also working with the Ministry of Health in the construction of the Cenderawasih University (Uncen) Teaching Hospital (RSP). Therefore, the presence of the RSP in the future will improve the quality of Uncen's medicine and also prepare specialist doctors at the RSP.
It is hoped that in the future the central government will continue to support the development of human resources in Papua because the Papuan Communication and Information Service also needs cooperation to accelerate so that Papua can be on par with other regions.
In addition to support in the fields of sports and education, the government also provides support to the young generation of Papua in entrepreneurship. One of them, the Jayapura City Government, together with Prudential Indonesia and Prestasi Junior Indonesia, gave an appreciation for the business of young Papuan entrepreneurs.
The activity made as a form of appreciation for young Papuan entrepreneurs is the holding of an entrepreneurial education program for young people in Jayapura City and Jayapura Regency from 2021 to 2022 and 2022 to 2023. Through these programs, as many as 25 young Papuan entrepreneurs have been educated and received briefings in order to develop their talents. in the field of entrepreneurship.
In the training, participants will receive life coaching, business preparation training, business model training, financial literacy training, and digital marketing training. The training carried out has been running in 2 stages, and while the second stage is still ongoing.
Through these activities, the Jayapura City Government also hopes that young talents who focus on various fields of entrepreneurship can make positive contributions to their respective communities.
The author agrees with the government's support to develop young Papuan talents. With the support from the government, the young generation of Papua will have good quality in the future, so that it will create quality human resources and can compete with human resources in other areas. Quality human resources also indirectly participate in accelerating development in Papua so that Papua is more advanced.
Thus, the author invites the youth of the nation's next generation, especially young Papuan talents to continue to develop their talents and expertise in areas of interest. It is hoped that in the future there will be more young Papuan talents who can compete in the international arena so that it becomes a matter of pride for the Indonesian people and the Papuan people themselves.
