BPD Papua prepares "Papeda" program to help MSEs
The Papua Regional Development Bank (BPD) has prepared a regional financial access acceleration program (PAPEDA) to assist small entrepreneurs or micro and small enterprises (UMK).
Since 2021, BPD in collaboration with the Provincial Government and OJK Papua has launched a program specifically to help small entrepreneurs, said the Head of the UMK and Consumer Business Division of the Papua Regional Development Bank (BPD) Abraham Krey to Antara in Jayapura, Thursday.
He explained that the beneficiaries of the Papeda program were people who had just started their businesses because the assistance provided ranged from Rp. 5 million to Rp. 10 million which was given without interest with two-year installments.
For 2021, funds of IDR 5 billion were allocated for the program, but due to the many requirements that must be met, the recipients were still limited.
As a result, currently the requirements for the recipient are revised, namely the recipient does not have receivables from other banks and makes details related to the plan to use the credit.
"Hopefully, with the revised requirements for credit aid recipients, we can attract more small entrepreneurs so they can develop," hoped Bram Krey (his nickname) .
He added that currently there are 117 small entrepreneurs who are recipients of the Papeda program, mostly in the trading business.
For 2022, BPD Papua allocates funds of Rp. 10 billion.
Small entrepreneurs who can enjoy the Papeda program distributed by BPD Papua are spread across the cities and regencies of Jayapura, Keerom, Biak, Merauke, Mimika, Nabire, Jayawijaya, Lanny Jaya and Paniai Regency, explained Bram Krey.
