The Expansion of Territories is Proof that the Government Prioritizes the Welfare of Papua

The regional expansion efforts that have taken place in Papua Province are clear evidence that the Government continues to prioritize the welfare of the entire community on Earth of Cenderawasih and avoid uneven development in Indonesia.

President Joko Widodo continues to carry out equitable development in order to realize one of his Nawa Citas. This is because Indonesia has always seemed to continue to have inequality in development which is not evenly distributed, especially in areas outside Java Island and especially in the Outermost, Foremost and Disadvantaged Regions (3T).

As far as the regimes before Indonesia were led by President Jokowi, it seems that there are so many inequalities and it seems that the only thing that matters is the island of Java. Therefore, seeing this fact, he immediately made a firm commitment that he would truly create equitable distribution of development throughout Indonesia without exception, including Papua.

Even evidence from President Jokowi continuing to prioritize the welfare of Papua in the midst of recent turmoil that had occurred due to the brutal actions of the Separatist and Terrorist Groups (KST Papua), he continued to want conditions to return to stability and security on Earth of Cendrawasih.

Therefore, the Government also continues to execute the plan for the expansion of three provinces in Papua. Even a Political Observer and academic from the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN), Robi Sugara explained that this is concrete evidence that President Jokowi himself really continues to strive for the welfare of all Papuan people.

It should be noted that the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) since June 2022 has officially ratified the Draft Law (RUU) for the three New Autonomous Regions (DOB) in Papua, which was changed to the Provinces of South Papua, Central Papua and Papua Mountains. This was originally intended to guarantee rights and equitable development for all people on Earth of Cenderawasih.

Robi added that the efforts made by the Central Government were indeed not playful in order to be able to prosper the Papuan people because as an area that is indeed being prioritized or prioritized even though it does require a budget that cannot be said to be small, especially recently there has been a global economic turmoil which has been exacerbated by the the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, but it is still being pursued.

The Political Observer also explained that with the expansion carried out in Papua, this will certainly be able to accelerate development and also the service process, all of which must be felt by the Papuan people to the maximum, including the Government itself will also continue to develop human resources from Original Papuans.

Similarly, the General Chairperson of the Papuan Indigenous Youth DPN, Jan Christian Arebo, also considered that the expansion carried out in the Papua province was very much in line with the policy of accelerating development in the Earth of Cendrawasih itself. He gave a very big appreciation and considered that the policy that was continuously pursued by the Central Government was a form of policy that was extraordinary because it was a real action and also seriousness in building and prospering the Papuan people.

Furthermore, Jan Christian also admitted that in fact the expansion as being pursued by the Government in the Papua Province is something that is very necessary because it cannot be denied that the geographical conditions of the Cenderawasih Earth itself are very wide even when compared to the island of Java.

So with geographical conditions that exceed Java, of course, it will take a lot of energy if there is absolutely no new autonomy so that what happens is that services cannot be evenly distributed and of course the welfare of the community itself will be threatened. For this reason, it is very necessary to widen the span of control so that public services can be truly maximized and of course optimal.

Just imagine, Java Island, which is actually geographically smaller than Papua, has a wide span of control and is divided into several more provinces. In fact, the division or expansion of the region as a New Autonomous Region (DOB) is actually a necessity and a necessity for Papuans.

Moreover, the Ketum of the Papuan Indigenous Youth DPN also emphasized that if the three new provinces were actually realized, then there would automatically be a process of absorbing more human resources, especially indigenous Papuans who would be able to become even more empowered with the many livelihoods that are available. what they can do, according to him, is a very positive impact for the young generation who have the ability in various fields to contribute to this nation.

The regional expansion in Papua which the Central Government continues to strive for is indeed an undeniable concrete proof that the Government itself really prioritizes the welfare of the entire Papuan people because there will be lots of positive impacts that they can feel, starting from services that will be more evenly distributed and maximized as well as resource development. humans will be able to happen more optimally as well.
