6 TNI Persons Suspected of Mutilation 4 Nduga Residents Will Be Dismissed, Commander XVII/Cenderawasih Visits Timika



Pangdam XVII/Cenderawasih Maj. Gen. Muhammad Saleh Mustafa emphasized that six TNI personnel involved in the mutilation of four Nduga residents two weeks ago in Timika will certainly be fired from the unit.

This statement was made by the Military Commander Mustafa at a press conference at the Rimba Papua Hotel (RPH), Monday (5/8). At the conpres activity, the Military Commander Mustafa was accompanied by Dandim 1710 Mimika Lieutenant Colonel Inf Dedy Dwi Cahyadi, Mimika Police Chief AKBP I Gede Putra, representatives of Komnas HAM and several TNI officers.
 
The Military Commander stated that he had just arrived from Jakarta to serve in Papua. “Timika was my first place on duty, I just arrived yesterday and today I am on duty. I chose Timika because there is a case that grabs our attention here,” he said.
 
It was stated that from the chronology of the cases he studied, there were several conclusions. First, the Commander in Chief conveyed that
condolences for the death of 4 mutilated victims. May the family left behind be strong enough to accept the ordeal.

"The second thing is that the report on the progress of the case investigation that was submitted to me was very positive, according to the orders of the TNI Commander and Kasad that this case must be opened transparently, both in terms of law and speed," he said.
 
He stated that currently the investigation stage. Articles have been set where the suspects are subject to Article 340 of the Criminal Code regarding premeditated murder, Article 365 of the Criminal Code concerning killing people.

“Yesterday, the crime scene was processed, it was just a matter of completing the file. We cooperate with the Mimika Police and Komnas HAM so that there is legal certainty so that justice is felt by residents and the families of the victims, including the perpetrators, must be punished according to their actions," he said.

The Military Commander admitted that the case has attracted attention. So it is very open for Komnas HAM to be involved in data collection.

Meanwhile, the perpetrators have been detained. "Two people are still being investigated, 6 members are already suspects. Including civilian actors who are fugitives, we cooperate with the Police. Specifically the civil initials R is concerned as the main brain. As for those who are members of the TNI, I make sure there is a weighting, they are fired," he said.

The Otmil trial will be held in Jayapura or Makassar depending on the results of the investigation of the case later. "What is certain is that it is open to the public, we will convey it transparently," said Commander Mustafa.
