The Jayawijaya Regency Government teaches ASN who are not computer savvy
The Jayawijaya Regency Government, Papua Province, has again sent 40 Group II civil servants (ASN) who are not computer proficient to study at the Agamua Wamena College of Computer Science (STIMIK).
The head of STIMIK Agamua Wamena, Marthen Medlama in Wamena, Sunday, said that previously the Jayawijaya government had sent 40 students to school and that 40 more would be added.
"This year the Regent wants to give another 40 people to study computers so they can work in the office well," he said.
STMIK management views that the policy of regional heads using special autonomy funds (Otsus) to send ASN to school is a positive thing for indigenous Papuans.
"This is extraordinary because the Otsus funds are used to increase the capacity of the Papuan people and it is right on target and we express our gratitude to the Jayawijaya Regent, Jhon Richard Banua," he said.
Of the eight regencies in the mountains of Papua, only the Jayawijaya District Government has collaborated with universities and opened local government classes in order to increase the capacity of its employees.
"I think this is a positive thing that regents in the central highlands of Papua can do because the funds are for Papuans, why not send Papuans to school," he said.
He explained that 40 Jayawijaya ASNs, who two years ago entered the local government class, will soon be graduating in 2023.
"There are 40 of them, but some are lazy, so maybe 33 people graduated. We can't graduate because we don't go to college," he said.
In order to support the education of indigenous Papuan sons and daughters, STMIK Agamua Wamena also frees fees for orphans who have the intention of getting an education there.
"We usually see the orphans we help two or three people, we give free tuition because they feel sorry for them in that condition but have the intention to move forward. Then if there is assistance from the local government, we usually help several students but secretly because it is limited. , so we help the needy," he said.
