Happy Papuan UMKM Packaging is Good, Jokowi: Please Go to Digital

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) wants SMEs in Papua to enter digital platforms. The President admitted that he saw many potential MSME products that he reviewed before attending the ceremony of handing over the Business Identification Number (NIB) to individual micro and small enterprises (UMK) at the Toware GOR, Jayapura Regency, Wednesday (31/8/2022).
 
"I was happy to see some of the products in front of me, the packaging was good, the packaging was good, the product was good. I was really surprised that in Papua the products were that good with good packaging," the President said as quoted by Antara.

According to the President, by utilizing digital platforms, Papuan MSME players can expand their market to other islands and even abroad.
 
"There's coffee, there's pineapple juice, there's shredded tuna, all sorts of things. Please enter it into the digital platform, into the digital ecosystem, use it, so that selling it is not only in Papua, but can jump outside Papua Province, to Java, to other islands, even abroad," he said.

If MSME actors are not sure to enter a large e-commerce platform, the President reminded that they can start this by utilizing existing social media channels.

"If you want this first, you can sell through Facebook, you can sell through IG (Instagram) you can, but if you can enter e-commerce platforms. I won't mention their names, there are lots of them, I think the products are like what I saw earlier. will sell quickly and sell very well," he said.

The distribution of NIB at the Toware Gymnasium, Jayapura Regency, was attended by at least 2,700 individual MSE recipients.

According to a report by the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia, up to now, only 20 thousand business actors have registered in the Online Single Submission (OSS) system in Papua.

Bahlil stated that his party targets this number to increase to at least 200 thousand business actors registered with OSS.

In addition to the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM, the President was also accompanied by Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
