Head of KNPB Timika and 2 KKB Members Arrested after Senpi Transaction, 113 Ammunition Confiscated

The Cartenz Peace Law Enforcement Task Force team and the Mimika Police arrested the Chairman of the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) Timika YA in Timika, Mimika Regency, Papua, Friday (23/9) night. YA was arrested for allegedly being involved in supplying weapons to the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

"It is true that the chairman of the KNPB Timika YA was arrested in connection with the alleged involvement in supplying ammunition to an armed criminal group (KKB) and is currently still being investigated by investigators at the Mimika Police Station in Timika," said Dircrimum Polda Papua Kombes Faizal Rahmadani, quoted by Antara, Saturday (9/24). .
 
Faizal said that YA's arrest was the result of development after two KNPB members were arrested in Timika. The two KNPB members who were arrested were members of the Intan Jaya KKB group, namely MK and BK.
 
The chronology of the arrests began when the Law Enforcement Team of the Cartenz Peace Task Force ambushed MK and BK at two different locations in Mimika. The two members of the KKB suspected of being tasked with finding logistics were arrested while looking for logistics in the form of ammunition and firearms.
 
He said that initially the team arrested MK in the Djayanti area along with 113 rounds of ammunition of various calibers and one revolver type airsoft gun on Thursday (22/9).

"The ammunition seized consisted of 95 rounds of 5.56 mm caliber ammunition and 18 rounds of V2 sabhara rubber ammunition," he said.

Meanwhile, on Friday morning, at around 11.20 WIT, the team arrested BK in the SP 5 area, he said.

He said from the results of the examination, both of them were members of the Intan Jaya Group KKB led by Undius Kogoya. It is unclear where YA got the ammunition from.
 
"Currently, both of them are still under investigation by investigators," he said.
