Starting from October, the venue for the former Papua National PON becomes a sports area for residents

The Papua Province Sports and Youth Service (Disorda) stated that as of October 1, 2022, the venues for the XX National Sports Week (PON) and XVI National Paralympic Week (PEPARNAS) are designated as public sports areas that can be utilized by the community.
 
Acting (Plt) Head of the Provincial Sports and Youth Service Alexander Kapisa through a press release in Jayapura, Tuesday, said that after the implementation of PON XX and PEPARNAS XVI in 2021, his party continues to strive so that these venues can be used by both athletes and the general public.
 
"After focusing on developing student sports in the Doyo Baru area, Jayapura Regency, Papua, we are now preparing to open a sports area around the Lukas Enembe Stadium and GOR Cendrawasih," he said.
 
According to Alexander, that way the general public can also take advantage of existing facilities to exercise and relax, both with family, friends and with communities.

"However, we will apply a vehicle parking fee for one entry, this is done to ease the burden of maintaining a very large area," he said.
 
He explained that the cost of a one-time vehicle for two-wheelers is Rp. 5,000 and Rp. 10,000 for four wheels and the money will be used to help maintain the area's maintenance costs.
 
"The cost of maintaining the area for the Lukas Enembe Stadium, Kampung Harapan, Jayapura Regency, Papua with all venues every year requires a budget of Rp. 23 billion," said Alexander who is also the Head of the Papua Province Regional Liaison Agency.
 
The Papua Provincial Government and the XX PON Grand Committee have built a world-class match venue for the multi-sport event.

The majority of the venues are of international standard and are officially certified according to the parent world organization of each sport.

The sports venues are spread across four cluster areas, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency, and Merauke Regency.

The venue in Papua is even claimed to be the best venue in Indonesia, one of which is the Lukas Enembe Stadium which is the main venue for the Papua PON.
