TPNPB Militants Act Again, Attack Workers in Bintun-Maybrat, Four Killed One Injured

TPNPB (West Papua National Liberation Army) militants are at it again. On Thursday 29 September 2022, the Armed Criminal Group attacked workers in Bintuni.

In that surprise attack, the Armed Criminal Group opened fire indiscriminately, resulting in one victim being injured and four others being killed.

The Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police, Kombes Adam Erwindi, confirmed the incident when contacted on Thursday, September 29, 2022.
 
"So there are 12 workers who are working on the trans Bintuni-Maybrat road section. They were attacked by unknown people. Initially, the perpetrators of the shooting were TPNPB militants," he said.

Information was obtained that the shooting occurred at around 18.20 WIT, Thursday, September 29, 2022.

"Yes (TPNPB militants), but I'm still investigating and the perpetrators are unknown people (OTK)," said Adam.

Based on the reports received, he continued, in that incident one worker was shot in the right hand.

Meanwhile, dozens of other people managed to escape from the crime scene (TKP).

The workers who survived then reported to the officers at the Organic Unit Yonif RK 136/TS Task Force Post in Mayerga Village, West Moskona District, Teluk Bintuni.

"It is true that the incident occurred at 18:20 WIT, Thursday, September 29, 2022," he said.

4 Workers Killed Slaughtered

Meanwhile, other information stated that armed groups intercepted and massacred workers in the West Moskona-North Moscow District, Teluk Bintuni Regency, West Papua.
 
In the incident, four workers were confirmed to have been killed and one of them suffered gunshot wounds.

West Papua Police Head of Public Relations Kombes Adam Erwindi said, from the results of the development, there were four workers who died after the attack by the armed group.

"From the testimony of witnesses, the Ditreskrimum Polda West Papua confirmed that four victims died," said Adam Erwindi when contacted, Friday, September 30, 2022.

He said that currently joint personnel from the TNI and the police were heading to the location of the incident. "Joint forces are heading to the location," said Adam Erwindi.

The location of the incident is known to be on the border of Bintuni Bay, Maybrat Regency, West Papua.

Previously, Adam Erwindi confirmed that a group of people had shot the Bay-Bintuni Maybrat road project workers on Thursday 29 September 2022.
 
"Information was obtained at around 18.20 WIT from the Organic Unit Battalion Infantry Battalion Post RK 136/TS Kampung Mayerga, West Moskona District, who came to report about shots fired by OTK," he said.

According to him, at first he heard the sound of gunshots when the workers were making their way in Kampung Majni towards North Moskona.

The 12 workers were frightened and ran away.
 
Spokesman for the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) for the Free Papua Organization (OPM), Sebby Sambom, claimed that the group was responsible for shooting and killing four people.

"They (4 workers who died) are still in our hands. Apart from shooting, we also set fire to trucks and excavators that were used to carry out road work," Sebby said in a written statement.
