PLN UIW Papua hopes that there will be synergy in the development of the electricity system

General Manager of PT PLN Parent Unit for Papua and West Papua, Budiono, expects collaboration and synergy from all stakeholders to support the development of the electricity system for all communities in Cenderawasih Earth.

"Building the electricity system in Papua requires the cooperation of all parties, including the provincial, regional, TNI-POLRI governments, so that it can run smoothly," Budiono said in Jayapura, Friday.

According to Budiono, currently there are still people in mountainous areas who do not enjoy electricity, because they do not have adequate access.

"For that we can't do it alone, but we need support, collaboration, synergy with stakeholders so that the Papua program can be realized properly," he said.

Until now there are still 199 villages that have not been electrified, including 181 villages in Papua and 18 villages in West Papua, both from the local government and from PLN itself.

"The condition of facilities and infrastructure for areas that have not been electrified, on average, must be reached by plane, so it requires quite a large cost," he said.

As one solution, his party is thinking about the potential use of new and renewable energy, such as utilizing rivers or solar power for the 199 villages.

"We are discussing that the 199 villages use new and renewable energy instead of having to send equipment that is quite heavy and takes a long time to work," Budiono said.
