310 drivers in Sorong City receive fuel voucher assistance

The government of the city of Sorong, West Papua Province distributed vouchers to 310 angkot drivers and motorized boats for sea crossings to be exchanged for fuel oil or fuel at gas stations.

"Social assistance vouchers based on RI Minister of Finance No.134/PMK.07/2022 are an effort to deal with the impact of inflation in the regions," Sorong Mayor George Yarangga said in Sorong, Monday.

He said that in accordance with President Joko Widodo's directives, regional governments in Indonesia, including in the city of Sorong, West Papua Province, must carry out a work program to suppress high inflation.

Therefore, the fuel voucher social assistance program for beneficiaries of public transportation drivers and sea crossing drivers like this is an effort by the local government to control inflation in accordance with the guidelines of the Minister of Finance.

Apart from that, he said, other inflation control programs were also carried out, such as monitoring the prices of basic necessities and increasing food crops by the community by utilizing their yards.

He said social assistance provided by the government through work programs was proof that the government was always present to answer the difficulties faced by the community.

George Yarangga hopes that the social assistance provided by the government will benefit the community, especially motorcycle taxi drivers, to meet their needs for fuel amid the current economic difficulties.

The Head of the Social Service for the City of Sorong, Fauzi Fattah, in a separate statement, said that the fuel vouchers given to 310 angkot drivers and boat engines for the Sorong Islands sea crossing were valued at IDR 300,000.

He explained that after receiving the voucher, the beneficiary community immediately exchanged fuel oil according to a specified value of IDR 300,000.

He added that fuel voucher assistance for 310 public transportation drivers and boat engines for Sorong Islands sea crossings beneficiaries in the city of Sorong for three months from October to December 2022.
