Kapolresta Kombes Victor: Nine TSK people in the case of raising the Morning Star at USTJ



Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jayapura City Police have named nine people as suspects in the case of the raising of the Morning Star flag at the Jayapura University of Science and Technology (USTJ) campus in Padang Bulan, Jayapura City.

"Apart from being suspects in raising the Morning Star flag, they are also suspected of having committed the most frequently used attack on security forces at the USTJ campus which was carried out last Thursday (10/11)," said Jayapura City Police Chief Kombes Victor D. Mackbon in Jayapura, Monday .
 
He admitted that initially the members arrested 15 people but after conducting an examination nine people were determined as suspects.
 
After investigators named nine suspects, six others were sent home.
 
Of the nine suspects, five of them were USTJ students, namely RNRK (23), MW (23), AH (19), TMGS (21) and NM (23), while the other four were DW (19 years), YEMN (20), AFE (22) and DT (25) are not USTJ students.
 
"The four suspects are not USTJ students. In fact, three other suspects have been involved in the case of raising the Morning Star flag at Cenderawasih Sports Hall, namely YEMN (20), AFE (22) and DT (25 years)," explained Mackbon.
 
The articles alleged against the suspects namely YEMN (20), AFE (22) and DT (25) were subject to Article 106 of the Criminal Code concerning treason.
 
"While RNRK (23), DW (19), MW (23), AH (19), TMGS (21) and NM (23) are subject to Article 212 of the Criminal Code for committing violations against and threatening officers with violence," said KBP Police Chief Victor Mackbon.
 
The Morning Star is the flag of Free Papua, which is an organization that fights for Papua to be separated from the Republic of Indonesia.
