Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources says 24-hour electricity boosts Papua's economy



The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said that the operation of electricity for 24 hours in three districts of the Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua, will be able to improve the local economy.

Director of Planning and Infrastructure Development of the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hendra Iswahyudi, said the three districts were supplied with the Dabolding Diesel Power Plant (PLTD) with a capacity of 2x500 kW and a hybrid solar power plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 2x60 kW.

"Hybrid PLTS with a capacity of 2x60 kW is a new renewable energy source," he said in a press release received in Jayapura, Papua, Monday.

According to Hendra, now his party together with the Gunung Bintang Regency Government and PT PLN are collaborating to produce new renewable energy sources again.

"This is also being the focus of the President to move towards the era of renewable energy so that it is hoped that new renewable energy can reduce fuel costs for the electricity system," he said.

In general, he explained that the strengthening of the electricity system in the Bintang Mountains Regency could have a good impact on the world of education, the economy and one of them is an increase in investment both in mining and other industries.

"We hope that next year there will be new energy sources so that more people can enjoy electricity," he said.

He added that in addition to the Dabolding PLTD, several electricity infrastructures were also built, namely a medium voltage network (JTM) of 15.27 kms, a low-voltage network of 5.30 kms, four distribution substations with a capacity of 100 kVA, and two distribution substations with a capacity of 200 kVA.
