There were no signs of violence on Filep Karma's body

Police officers are still investigating the case of the death of one of the Free Papuan activists, Filep Karma (62 years old) who was found dead on Base-G beach, North Jayapura District, Jayapura City, Papua, Tuesday (01/11) morning.

Jayapura City Police Chief Kombes Pol Dr. Victor D. Mackbon, SH, S.IK., MH, MSi when confirmed at the Police Headquarters said that the victim was found dead by residents at 05.00 WIT.

"Residents who wanted to dive to catch fish, then found the victim already lying with a swollen body condition on the beach," said the Chief of Police.

From the results of the post-mortem at the Bhayangkara Kotaraja Hospital, explained the Chief of Police, Mackbon, there were no signs of violence on the victim's body.

Regarding the results of the post-mortem, the family refused to conduct an autopsy. "We will make a statement of refusal to anticipate things that are not desirable in the future," said Mackbon.

According to the family's statement, the last communication with the victim was on October 27, 2022.

"The family said the victim left the house with the intention of wanting to dive to catch fish," he explained.

Regarding the death of Filep Karma, the Head of Police Mackbon also appealed to the entire community not to spread hoax issues that could disrupt the security and security situation.

"Don't let new problems arise, leave this handling to the Police, we are also accompanied directly by the Papuan Human Rights Commission to participate in the post-mortem and investigation process so that there are no things that are outside the facts, I hope all parties can support all of this," he insisted.
