528 Papua Scholarship Recipient Students Drop Out

The Head of the Human Resources Development Agency or BPSDM Papua, Aryoko Rumaropen stated that there were at least 528 students receiving Papuan scholarships who had experienced termination of their studies or dropped out.

Reporting from Jubi, who is a partner of Teras.id, Rumaropen explained that of the 528 students who were declared drop-outs, 271 of them were Papuan students studying abroad. As for the 257 people, it was stated that they had dropped out of universities in the country.

According to him, the termination of the study relationship or dropping out was due to a number of things, such as low academic scores, exceeding the study period, violating college regulations, and some even violating the law.

"Some were expelled because of ethical violations on campus and legal issues," said Rumaropen to Jubi in Jayapura City, Monday, December 12, 2022.

For your information, the number of students receiving Papuan scholarships who have dropped out is an accumulation since the Papuan scholarship program has been running since 2009.

Rumaropen gave the example of a student receiving a scholarship who allegedly shot the police. "That is a violation of the law. Overseas, there are requirements, you must be disciplined. If there is a violation of the law, it will not be tolerated by a state that is orderly and lawful. It cannot be tolerated any longer," he said.

Likewise, the study time limit is often violated by students. If students receiving scholarships study abroad, they must be able to finish college within six years. As for in the country must complete college in five years. The time limit for this study period is often violated.
