Sentani Airport opens Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 posts

Sentani Airport, Jayapura Regency, Papua Province opened a Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 post which will take place from Monday (19/12) to January 3, 2023.

Sentani Surya Eka Airport Stakeholder Relations Manager in Jayapura said Monday the opening of the command post was in accordance with instructions from the Ministry of Transportation Number IR 2 of 2022.
 
He stated that the integrated postal service would last for 16 days.
 
Predictions of flight traffic at Sentani International Airport during the Christmas and New Year post period are estimated to increase by four percent to 86,846 passengers compared to last year's period of 83,297 passengers.
 
Aircraft movements are expected to grow by two percent, namely 2,300 aircraft compared to last year's period of 2,258 aircraft, and cargo is estimated to grow seven percent, namely 6,101,846 kg compared to last year's period of 5,729,433 kg, said Surya Eka.
 
It is said, for the prediction of the peak density of departing flows will occur on H-2 Christmas, namely on Thursday (22/12) which is estimated to reach 7,190 passengers. Meanwhile, the peak return flow is expected to occur on D+2, namely on Tuesday (3/1/2023) with an estimated number of passengers of 5,416 people.
 
"Movement data reporting activities will be updated every day and can be monitored directly at the integrated transportation post, even during the COVID-19 pandemic," explained Surya Eka.
 
Surya admitted that the implementation of the health protocol will still be implemented including the use of masks and hopes that all parties will obey it, including prospective passengers flying through Sentani Airport.
 
"All Sentani Airport stakeholders are expected to work well together, be solid and maintain mutual coordination, communication so that operational activities during the post can run well and minimize incidents, and the implementation of health protocols is still being treated strictly," said Surya Eka.
