General Chairperson of the Papuan Red and White Youth Troops Supports the Corruption Eradication Commission in Investigating the Use of PON Funds

It has been one year since the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON). However, it is suspected that the use of PON funds still leaves problems.

Because of this, the general chairman of the Papuan Red and White Youth Troops, Rudi Samori, welcomed the steps taken by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to investigate the use of the PON funds.

"Not just me personally, but all Papuan people in general already know that the funds disbursed for PON activities in the land of Papua, until the day the PON is over, there are still many things that have not been resolved," said Rudi in Jayapura, Tuesday ( 20/12/2022).

Rudi said that, according to him, the PON financing matters were still being complained about by the public and had appeared in the mass media, including the rights of volunteers who were tasked with facilitating activities in various PON arenas, some had not received them, some had received but were lacking.

“Even several inns, hotels, and until recently we heard that something had not been resolved. So, what we need to ask is, where did the funds actually go?” asked Rudi.

In the Jayapura Regency area, Rudi witnessed that after the PON, a group of residents who owned customary rights held a barricade at the hockey sports venue in Doyo Baru, Sentani.

“There was a blockage on the road by several tribal chiefs and Ondoafi had an issue with customary rights. Whether it has been resolved or not, I don't know, because I know that road blockages are still happening to this day," said Rudi.

For information, the total APBN that has been spent to support the implementation of the XX Papua PON is IDR 10.43 trillion for the purposes of developing new infrastructure.

Especially sports facilities and infrastructure for a number of sports, and also for the costs of implementing the PON itself.

The Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani once said that the Rp.10.43 trillion APBN funds were distributed through various schemes, both direct spending by ministries and institutions and transfers to the APBD of Papua Province. The disbursement has been carried out from 2018 to 2021.

"Actually, if it's been completely resolved or not, please open the Papua Provincial Government to the public, be transparent to the public, so that the Papuan people know that PON has been successful in Papua Province, others must also be successful including accountability for the use of the budget," asked Rudi .

With the latest developments in the alleged corruption case that ensnared Lukas Enembe, Rudi believes that Lukas has been cornered. The dozens of witnesses summoned by the KPK have of course revealed many indications of Lukas' irregularities that so far have not been made public.
