The Manokwari government has prepared buses to support Christmas homecoming

The government of Manokwari Regency, West Papua Province has prepared buses to support the local community going home ahead of Christmas and New Year.

"What is prepared is according to needs. We will only see first how much the community needs. What is clear is that the Manokwari Regency Government has buses," said Manokwari Regent Hermus Indou in Manokwari, Monday.

He said the bus operations not only support the needs of going home in the local regency but can also be used to transport congregations who want to worship from the Wapramasi mainland to the city center in Manokwari.

However, Hermus asked the public to use the bus as well as possible.

He gave an example if people need buses to worship, then these people really have to pray and not take buses for other purposes.

So far, it is known that there are seven buses parked at the Manokwari Regency Department of Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries which are usually used for school children and the public.

"But if the number is limited, then maybe the situation is like that. What is certain, however, it will not hinder our joy in welcoming Christmas," he said.

His party and the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) of Manokwari Regency will plan to meet to discuss readiness ahead of Christmas and New Year 2023.

"The plan is for the meeting to take place on Wednesday (21/12) afternoon to discuss other preparations needed to welcome Christmas and New Year. We will also invite the church and other religious leaders to ensure that Christmas celebrations run smoothly and safely," said Hermus.
