Kemenkominfo added 13 BTS in Biak

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo) through the Public Service Agency of the Indonesian Telecommunications Accessibility Agency (BLU BAKTI) in 2022 added 13 units of Base Transceiver Station (BTS) construction to speed up internet access for villagers in Biak Numfor Regency, Papua Province

Acting Head of the Biak Communication and Information Service (Kadis Kominfo), Mukhlis Salepu in Biak, Monday, explained that until December 2022 all 13 new BTS construction programs in Biak Numfo Regency had been 100 percent completed to provide internet access for people in the 3T area (leading outermost lagging).

"We thank the central government through the Ministry of Communication and Informatics for adding 13 BTS in Biak Numfor Regency, which have been 100 percent completed," he said.

He said the construction of the 13 new BTS infrastructure added to the total number of BTS that had been built by the central government through the Ministry of Communication and Information by 2022 to 116 BTS units.

The addition of dozens of new BTS in Biak Numfor Regency, he said, is to meet the needs of the people in various villages so they can enjoy quality telecommunication networks.

"The construction of 4G BTS is part of the government's efforts to encourage inclusive digital economic growth for people living in the 3T region in Papua and West Papua," he said.

He invited all residents of the village whose territory had been built by BTS to take part in caring for and looking after it because it is used for the public interest in obtaining communication services and internet access provided by the government.

"With the availability of BTS, village residents can communicate with relatives, relatives, family and friends outside Biak and even abroad," he said.

The government continues to do equal distribution of basic infrastructure development specifically in the field of communication and information by building new BTS physical facilities to serve the needs of the 3T community, said Mukhlis Salepu.
