Pemprov Commitment to Accelerate Progress of 3 New Autonomous Regions of Papua

Papua Regional Secretary M Ridwan Ruusukun conveyed, in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government that regional development is a manifestation of the implementation of government affairs that have been handed over to the regions as an integral part of national development.

Also bearing in mind the main objective of Law Number 2 of 2021 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 21 of 2001 concerning Special Autonomy for the Province of Papua, whereby the government must protect and uphold the dignity and worth, provide affirmation and respect for the basic rights of Indigenous Papuans ( OAP), both in the economic, social and cultural fields, then it is necessary to accelerate the development of welfare and improve the quality of sustainable and sustainable public services to increase development in the Papua region.

With the promulgation of 3 new autonomous regions through Law No. 14 of 2022 concerning the Formation of the South Papua Province, Law no. 15 of 2022 concerning the Establishment of the Central Papua Province and Law no. 16 of 2022 concerning the Establishment of the Highlands Papua Province on July 25, 2022.
 
"So it is necessary to accelerate the preparation of government administration documents, one of which is by facilitating the preparation of regional planning documents by the Directorate General for Regional Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in the form of assistance in preparing the 2023 RKPD and 2024-2026 RPD in 3 new autonomous regions," said the Papua Regional Secretary in meeting for handing over the results of the facilitation of the 3rd Province RKPD preparation of the new autonomous regions, Wednesday (30/11).

According to the Sekda Papua, the intended 2024-2026 RPD document will serve as a guide in preparing the 2024 Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD). Considering that the periodization of the Papua Province main RPJMD will end in 2023 and so far no regional apparatuses have been formed in the 3 new autonomous regions.

"I hope that the coordination and synergy between the Government, in this case the Directorate General for Regional Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Government of the Papua Province as the Main Province and the 3 new autonomous regions and their coverage districts will be further improved to ensure that the administration of governance in the Provinces of South Papua, Central Papua Province and Papua Mountains Province, can run. optimally, especially in the preparation of regional planning documents, because we all have a responsibility to oversee the success of these 3 new autonomous regions, "he said.
 
He also said that the Provincial Government of Papua as the parent province along with the Government would continue to support and be committed to the process of transitioning government and implementing development in the three new provinces.

"With the formation of these 3 new autonomous regions, it can answer the hopes of all the Papuan people, especially in increasing the welfare of the Indigenous Papuans in this land," he hoped.
